Sagara #Reborn - Tales from an Old Writer

Recently, I recovered my writing pens that had disappeared about 10 years ago and the unbelievable happened…… Sagara was missing in action. For those of you, who knew Sagara, you don’t need to know more about him now – you all have your ordeal of how he used to write. To some of you who don’t know who this famous man was - he was a great writer, who inspired me to at least keep writing as a hobby.
Ocatre Slivers
The guy was sick – when I say sick it doesn’t mean he was sick, it’s an expression for good in writing crazy funny articles that really create an illusion of laughter, tears and humor. You hardly can’t describe the feeling after reading the article. Don’t be annoyed that am writing about a stingy writer that you might have hated but you don’t need to remember a thing, just know how crazy we were about him.
He was depicted by a long beard, really long beard. I think the late Moze Radio was inspired by his beards too, if you noticed he grew a long beautiful beard. A sexy sweet beard even if to you he was argule, his face looked so beautiful that even Miss Uganda admires him. I never met him in person but I think been a charming prince, ladies fall for him and they admired his sexy beards and always wanting to marry him. Although he joked in one of his article how he failed to get married, yet his mum was badly wanting a grandchild…. I don’t know
Am not here talking about how ladies love sexy beards, this all about Sagara. They say smoking is harmful to your health, just like in India; they say Smoking is Injurious to your health, it causes cancer and death. Ministry of Heath didn’t burn Sagara of Smoking, his cartoon like drawing was always depicting a long cigarette. I think for us Lugbara’s it will be an equivalent of an “Omboko” a raw Tobacco rolled in Banana leaves or A4 ruled Papers. It’s so long that the elders smoke it for one month. The moment they cough after puffing this roll, the whole village may think that the drum for going to war has been sounded. They may start packing their bows and arrows to go face the enemy.
Today is a special Sagara Reborn day – is it even his birthday? Don’t ask such a question, it’s a day to introduce my writing career, it may either end with this article or it already ended long time ago. Am not a young guy born in the 90s or 2000s? In my days, there was no internet, we relied on newspapers that reach our school library after two weeks or one month. What happens in the middle is just crazy stuff.
Arua was a lucky destination, where Newspapers reach there at exactly 10am abound Eagle Air. The office attendant leaves the school at around 11am on his blue phoenix bike – they used to call it sports bike, yet there is nothing sportic about it. He could arrive back at around 1pm sweating so hot like a dog been fed on hot pepper, a copy of this paper is delivered to the HM and others to the staff room. After the teachers reading and getting tired of looking at the same papers, they take it home for their children to use it for covering their exercise before they realize it, the beautiful printed pages have been used by the wife to decorate the sitting room. Until the librarian reminds them to bring the paper is when they can act.
We always used to get Newspaper scraps – but out of this saga, the Sagara colon always remain intact. Maybe because of his cat like eye glasses, no one cares to plank off his colon. This was a signature eye glass even the blind like me can spot him from the crazy Kampala streets and still say, this is Sagara’s eye glass. I think the doctor who gave him these glasses must have been a Chinese with dot like eye.
I had the opportunity to visit Pakwach and Panyamur in my Primary School days – My Mother used to be a fish monger. You know what that means if you from Arua but this is a common destination for a mama boy accompanying her to the market. It always not an easy trip, anytime is accident time due to the high speed of the Lorries transporting the women. You might be asking why am writing about these places – Sagara is believed to be a Prince of Pakwach. Am told by a friend recently that he is the second handsome Alur man after Rt Rev. Orombi the Former Archbishop of Uganda. If it’s true that he is the second handsome Alur man, then I must be the cutest and most handsome Lugbara man.

Life is amazing when you do what your heart desires and is passionate about, some guy spot the king around Kampala. As I conclude, am on a quest to find Sagara’s missing pens, they believed to be hidden around the closed Kagame Boarder. We don’t talk about these things in public. I must say this a totally creative thought of a confused man writing. If you are confused too, welcome to our world. #SagaraReborn
